Who We Are

CCCU History

Community Choice Credit Union had its small beginning on October 9, 1952. It was established as SD14 Federal Credit Union and was located in the basement of one of our member's home. We then moved to an office in the Administration Building for Adams City High School, and from there to a house located at 4675 E. 69th Avenue in Commerce City.

Some significant changes over the years since then have been:

03-26-82 | Name changed to S D 14 Credit Union (dropped the "Federal")
07-01-83 | Moved offices to 6921 E. 72nd Avenue, Commerce City
10-17-90 | Field of Membership expanded to include SEGs
12-06-91 | Adams County employees added to SEGs
02-03-95 | Field of membership expanded to include students of School District 14
10-29-96 | Approved as "Community" chartered credit union
10-29-96 | Field of Membership expanded to include all Commerce City residents
08-01-97 | Name changed to Community Choice Credit Union
07-31-02 | Remodel and expansion of building at 6921 E. 72nd Avenue completed
10-31-04 | Merged with First Medical Credit Union
01-01-09 | Merged with NE Denver Federal Credit Union
03-31-13 | Merged with Wedenum CU
11-31-14 | Merged with Rio Grande Operating CU
12-31-14 | Merged with DC CU

 

Our Credit Union with humble beginnings now boasts $59.3 million in assets and more than 6,167 members (as of June 2018) and is still growing! We have a dedicated management team with a vision. We will continue to explore innovative avenues of growth and development while promoting the Credit Union philosophy of "People Helping People.
